Today, President Joseph Biden nominated former Congresswoman Val Demings (D-FL) and former Postal Gov. William Zollars to the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors. Rep. Demings represented an Orlando, Florida congressional district in the House of Representatives, from 2017-2022. Among her committee assignments, Demings served on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. William Zollars served one term as a member of the Board of Governors, which ended in December 2023. In early March, President Biden nominated former Labor Secretary Martin Walsh to the Board of Governors. There are currently two vacancies on the Board, with Governor Anton Hajjar's "hold-over" year expiring on December 8. Therefore, upon confirmation, Demings would immediately succeed Hajjar. Inasmuch as the other two seats are vacant, Walsh and Zollars would also be seated immediately.
