On May 12, the U.S. Senate, by voice vote, confirmed the nominations of Daniel Tangherlini and Derek Kan to the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors. With their confirmations, the Board of Governors is at full strength, with nine presidentially nominated members. This is the first time the Postal Service is being governed by a full board in more than a decade. Tangerhlini was nominated to fill the vacancy created by the departure of Ron Bloom and Kan is suceeding Ron Barger, whose term expired in last year, but was serving in a holdover year. Consequently, five of the nine Board members were nominated by President Joseph Biden. Neverthless, the partisan composition of the Board is four Democrats, four Republicans, and one unaffilated with any political party.
